Organic September: Magnitone, skin and diet - how to reverse ageing holistically this autumn

By Emma Coleman, Magnitone Senior Brand Ambassador, Clinic Director, Aesthetic & Dermatology RGN

Whilst we know that all of the technologies in Magnitone devices have solid research behind them, diet and its relationship to skin ageing has previously been a controversial subject for many years within the world of dermatology and medical healthcare.

Personally, I like to include dietary analysis and advice alongside at-home treatments in all of my adult consultations because it makes sense to, and clients in my experience like to have a solid plan tailored to them, including various approaches to improve their skin condition.

In terms of ageing and diet, a 2024 post-menopausal study amongst North American women highlighted that although ageing is biologically predetermined, the consumption of eggs, processed meat, and sugar were shown to accelerate skin ageing, whilst oily fish was shown to reduce signs of aging including wrinkles and pigmentation. The same trial also provided evidence that healthier dietary choices may significantly reduce risks of skin cancer formation.

Aside from the physical aspects, what I have found in clinic is that skin concerns have a profound effect on how people feel, often impacting how they interact socially and professionally, resulting in low self-esteem, feelings of isolation, even reduced quality of life and depression. In my experience, giving clients the knowledge and tools to make a difference to how their skin is ageing gives them a positive outlook and motivation, which is why Magnitone devices, diet and recipe advice feature heavily in my plans.

Here’s how you can combine and include Magnitone at-home devices and anti-ageing foods into your daily skincare routine:

Morning:

  • Skincare Routine: Apply a creamy face wash to damp skin, then apply Magnitone’s BabyBare Cleansing Brush for a luxurious deep cleanse to face and neck.
  • Breakfast: Warm overnight oats with coconut or oat milk. Stir in chia and pumpkin seeds, or berries and peanut butter (or all of the above!).

Lunch:

  • Meal: Smoked salmon and boiled egg salad, sprinkled with bean sprouts and honey.

Evening:

  • Dinner: Warm chicken salad - Chop up tomatoes, new potatoes, courgettes, and peppers into cubes and place in a baking tray. Sprinkle chicken pieces on top, drizzle with olive oil, add salt and pepper, and roast for 25 minutes at 180 degrees. Serve and sprinkle with bean sprouts.

Night-time Skincare:

  • Skincare Routine: Remove makeup and apply an active cleanser with Salicylic and Glycolic acid, remove with tepid water, and pat the skin dry.
  • Magnitone Treatment: Treat your skin to a steam with Magnitone’s SteamAhead 2, for sparkling clean skin. Then apply your favourite night-time serum—I like Hyaluronic acid for bedtime at this time of year, as it keeps skin super-quenched and hydrated as you sleep.
  • Finish by using Magnitone’s FaceRocket on the Cryotherapy and Green LED Light setting to tighten lax skin, reduce any under-eye puffiness, and calm redness.
